Detailed Look at Requirements Lifecycle: Traceability Between SE/SysML and the Design Process
While MBSE methodologies and tools are being adapted by the various companies, the importance of connecting MBSE with the rest of the design domains via a unified Change and Configuration Control services is not always obvious. That is why many organizations are pursuing the strategy of linking MBSE to the rest of the design activities via a PLM platform. This is somewhat different than using PLM platform to manage the changes, configurations, and lifecycle of the MBSE models as such. By integrating MBSE with the PLM platform users can benefit from a model based approach to the Requirements (instead of text-based), define and expose the interfaces between MBSE and the domain specific designs, provide a hand-off definition for the external suppliers (ex: black box vs white box). This session explains how Aras PLM platform is evolving its open data model to enable a bi-directional Digital Thread critical to aggregating all relevant elements of a Digital Twin. This is not a monolithic approach – data can reside in various dedicate data bases but be exposed via the PLM platform as if it did reside in that platform.
