INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook Overview

  • Speaker: David D. Walden, Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
  • When: Day 1 : Sunday May 20th
  • The objective of this tutorial is to provide a top-level overview of the Fourth Edition of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Systems Engineering Handbook, the basis of the INCOSE certification exam. Participants will learn how the handbook can be used to plan, manage, and realize complex systems within the context of demanding business constraints. Participants will be introduced to key Systems Engineering terminology, concepts, and principles in the handbook, answering questions such as:

    • What is Systems Engineering and why is it important?
    • What are the key Systems Engineering processes in the SE Handbook?
    • How does the material in the SE Handbook related to MBSE and SysML?

Practical information and tools will be provided and the participants will complete several team-based exercises to solidify the concepts being presented. Each student will receive a complete set of lecture notes and an annotated bibliography. INCOSE members can download a free copy of INCOSE SE Handbook. Copies of the handbook will also be available for purchase at the NMWS registration desk.
